Professors Gorvett, Morse, and Volkman publish article on “Communicating in Crisis Situations”

For experts in the quantitative disciplines, it can be challenging to translate detailed information about complex issues into key points that can be understood by non-experts. In a recent paper published in the Casualty Actuarial Society E-Forum, the cross-disciplinary team of Rick Gorvett, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Mathematics department; Christopher Morse, Ph.D., Professor of Communication; and Julie Volkman, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communication, collaborated to examine this challenge and propose recommendations to help actuaries and other “quants” more effectively communicate important information in challenging times.
